The home team came out flying in the first period, unleashing a barrage of 19 shots on Rivulettes goalie Courtney Beeksma. Their pressure paid off on the power play just 1:38 into the game, as Bronwyn Langis, wearing number 22, found the back of the net with assists from Marissa Gloyns and Tiani Makokis. Despite being outshot 19-12 in the opening frame, Beeksma kept Cambridge in the game, setting the stage for a tighter second period.
Cambridge found their footing and evened the score early in the second. Just 1:02 into the period, Micah Carswell converted an even-strength chance, assisted by Quinn Carswell and Sara Hillock, to knot the game at 1-1. The third period saw the game's physicality escalate, culminating in a major penalty and suspension for Cambridge's Sadie D'Angela for checking from behind with just over seven minutes to play. Despite the Rivulettes pushing hard and outshooting Mississauga 10-3 in the final period, the Hurricanes delivered the dagger. Tiani Makokis, who had an assist on the opening goal, sealed the victory with an even-strength tally at the 1:52 mark, assisted by Olivia Aquino and sophia block. Olivia Hepburn was a fortress for the Hurricanes, stopping 29 of 30 shots for the win, while Courtney Beeksma made 30 saves in a valiant losing effort for Cambridge. The Hurricanes' explosive start and disciplined response to Cambridge's push proved to be the difference in a hard-fought contest.
