The Hornets responded on the power play later in the period, capitalizing on a hooking penalty to Whitby's Audrey Clarke. The second period was a penalty-filled affair that ultimately swung the game in Whitby's favor. The Hornets took three minors in the frame, and the Wolves made them pay on their final opportunity. Whitby sealed the victory with two third-period goals to pull away. Just under three minutes into the final frame, Charlotte Walker, number 34, redeemed her earlier penalty by scoring an even-strength goal off a feed from Jasmine Ke to make it 3-1. The Wolves added an insurance marker midway through the period when Haedyn Leeson, number 88, converted a setup from Riley Pettit. Despite a late interference penalty to Oakville's Ava Giacomodonato, the Hornets could not mount a comeback, as the Whitby defense and goaltending held firm to close out a convincing 4-1 triumph, highlighted by a two-goal performance from Whitney Basso.
