The Brampton Canadettes came out flying on home ice, dominating the first period with a 15-6 shot advantage and striking first. Julia Sayej, wearing number 27, opened the scoring late in the period, converting a setup from Kaitlin Bayer and Josie Meredith. The Ottawa Senators weathered the early storm and found an answer before the intermission, as Chloë Martineau netted her first of the night, assisted by Naomi Chambers, to knot the game at 1-1.
The middle frame saw a significant momentum shift, with the Senators tilting the ice and outshooting Brampton 12-7. Canadettes' goalie Emily Mackie was busy, turning aside every shot to keep the game tied heading into the third. The final period became a back-and-forth affair. Ottawa's Lexie Hatoum, number 92, broke the deadlock just over five minutes in, with Olivia Wallace picking up the helper. The Canadettes' Kristina Eccleston took a penalty early in the period, but Brampton killed it off. The Senators' momentum continued, however, and Chloë Martineau struck again for the eventual game-winner, assisted by Keara Kiley, to give Ottawa a 3-1 lead. Brampton pushed hard late, with Eccleston redeeming her earlier penalty by scoring to cut the deficit to one with assists to Samantha Kosakowski, but they could not find the equalizer.
In the end, Ottawa goaltender Ivy Nellis was the story, turning aside all 34 shots she faced to backstop her team to a hard-fought 3-2 victory. Despite a strong start and a late push, the Brampton Canadettes couldn't solve Nellis enough times, as the Senators capitalized on their chances in the third to secure two crucial points on the road.
