The Central York Panthers delivered a commanding performance on home ice, blanking the Toronto Leaside Wildcats 4-0 in a U22 Elite matchup. The tone was set early by the Panthers, who capitalized on their offensive pressure. Ashley Minor opened the scoring just under seven minutes into the first period, finishing off a play with assists from Audrey Martone and Keira Johnson. The momentum continued as the Panthers converted on their first power play opportunity later in the period. With Toronto's Lily Latchford in the box for slashing, Audrey Martone found the back of the net, assisted by Ellie Lewington and Catelyn Clark, to give Central York a 2-0 lead heading into the intermission.
The Panthers' control only intensified in the second period. Despite being outshot 13-16 in the frame, the Wildcats could not solve Panthers' goalie Jamie Sanford. Lily Paisley extended the lead to 3-0 midway through the period, scoring off a feed from Anastasia Trifon. The third period saw more of the same, with Paisley striking again for her second of the night, once again set up by Trifon, to put the game completely out of reach. The final frame grew increasingly chippy, with four minor penalties called, including matching head contact calls on Central York's Mackenzie Cotey and Toronto's Blake Givelas in the dying seconds.
The story of the game was the flawless play of Panthers' netminder Jamie Sanford, who turned aside all 29 shots she faced to earn a well-deserved shutout. While the Wildcats' Grace Robitaille faced a heavy workload with 38 shots against, the Panthers' offensive depth, led by Lily Paisley's two goals and Anastasia Trifon's two assists, proved too much to handle. The disciplined structure of Central York, which killed off all three of its minor penalties, combined with Sanford's perfect goaltending, secured a decisive and comprehensive victory.
