The Barrie Sharks and Central York Panthers delivered an offensive spectacle, with the Sharks holding on for a narrow 5-4 victory in a game filled with momentum swings. The Sharks came out flying on home ice, establishing an early lead and capitalizing on Panther penalties. Mae Severn opened the scoring for Barrie late in the first period, assisted by Samantha Larmand. Just minutes later, with the Panthers down a player, Sonia Mehta doubled the lead on the power play, with Madeline McKay earning the helper. The Sharks' aggressive start was reflected in a 14-10 shot advantage in the opening frame.
The second period was a wild, back-and-forth affair that saw five total goals. The Sharks extended their lead to 4-0 with two quick strikes from Tayah Wallace and Abrianne Brumwell, the latter assisted by Simone Swanson and Piper Sebben. However, the Panthers roared back with three unanswered goals to turn a blowout into a nail-biter. Abby Pak got Central York on the board with a power-play marker, assisted by Rachel Talesnik. Zoe Ordanis then electrified the Panthers' bench with a shorthanded goal, and Abby Pak struck again late in the period, her second of the game, to cut the deficit to 4-3 heading into the final intermission.
The Panthers completed their furious comeback early in the third when Elizabeth Shapira found the back of the net, assisted by Mackenzie Cotey, to tie the game at 4-4. The Sharks, who had been outshot 15-9 in the second period, regained their composure and tightened up defensively, limiting the Panthers to just six shots in the third. The game-winner came from an unlikely source, as the Sharks' final goal was scored unassisted by Tayah Wallace for her second of the contest, securing a hard-fought two points. The Panthers' goaltending duo of Claire Hicks and Jamie Sanford faced a barrage of 40 shots, while the Sharks' Avah Sedore backstopped the win despite the late surge from a resilient Central York attack.
