The Mississauga Hurricanes turned a one-goal deficit into a commanding 5-1 victory over the Burlington Barracudas, using a lethal power play to completely shift the game's momentum. The Barracudas struck first in the opening period, as Miwa Carter, assisted by Sarah Elson and Lauren Kruzel, found the back of the net to give Burlington an early lead. Despite being outshot 12-9 in the first, the Hurricanes settled in and began to impose their will, a process that was supercharged by a parade of Burlington penalties in the middle frame.
The second period was the turning point, dominated by the Hurricanes' special teams. After taking three minor penalties in quick succession, including a double-minor for head contact to Caileigh Tiller, the Barracudas' discipline crumbled. The Hurricanes' power play unit went to work, scoring three times to seize control. Audrey Soja started the onslaught, followed by Casey Peddle, and then Tiani Makokis, who scored late in the period to make it 3-1. The Hurricanes' offensive pressure was relentless, outshooting Burlington 18-6 in the period, with goalie Riley Manna facing a barrage of shots.
Mississauga carried their momentum into the third, adding two more goals to put the game out of reach. Kika Ho scored an even-strength marker early, assisted by Chloe Zunn and sophia block, before Bronwyn Langis capped the scoring with yet another power-play goal, with Ho and block picking up their second assists of the night. In net, Kalia Pharand was a steadying presence for the Hurricanes, stopping 21 of 22 shots for the win. The Barracudas, who started strong, were ultimately undone by penalty trouble, giving the Hurricanes seven power-play opportunities which Mississauga converted into four decisive goals.
